Meditation and Hiking – Honora Zen Monastery – Pilgrimage – Switzerland

Meditation and hiking on the two-day pilgrimage at Honora Zen Monastery.

Einsiedeln - Honora Zen Monastery

The drizzle greeted us in the monastery village and so the pilgrimage began in the place of pilgrimage Einsiedeln. In honor of Saint Meinrad, we drank from the monastery well and marched off in the direction of Lake Sihl. Over the viaduct to Willerzell and up into the foothills of the Alps. Overlooking the Linth plain we moved over hill and dale in the direction of the Honora Zen monastery. After the 8 hour hike we were warmly welcomed in the Zen monastery. Warm dinner, talks and sitting meditation concluded the first day.

Honora Zen Monastery - Steg im Tösstal

After breakfast at 4 a.m. we packed our things and set off in the dark to the Linth plain. Silence was announced along the Linth Canal to Schmerikon. Then we quickly made a pilgrimage to Wald. At the train station we enjoyed our food and watched the hustle and bustle on Sunday. Along the Bachtobel on the Hüttchopf Weg (Route 864) the final stage to Steg in the Tösstal began. We stopped off at Alp Scheidegg and treated ourselves to an ice cream. Along the ridge we looked out over the Zurich Oberland to Lake Constance and the Alps.

After a good 12 hours we were greeted and treated with a wonderful meat and cheese platter in Steg in the Tösstal.
