Meditation City of Basel – Cemetery am Hörnli – Wisdom to accept Death
Grüezi and welcome to the open meditation Basel in the cemetery am Hörnli. The cemetery is the largest in Switzerland and offers numerous opportunities to meditate. One can very well examine life and death again in the cemetery and see one's true self in meditation. To come back to one's own nature.
The meditation takes place twice a year (spring & autumn).
Meditation
Zen Meditation: Take a deep breath and think the unthinkable. Sit comfortably and plunge into the depths of the depths!
Requirements
- small pillow for sitting meditation
- rain protection in bad weather
The meditation is carried out in all weather conditions. In bad weather we meet at the meeting point and then go to the covered courtyard.

Contemplation - Basel Meditation
When you become a professor, the whole body is professor. You forget completely. That is the reason monks shave their head. Just a simple bare body; a leather bag. Even the masters do not dress differently than monks. The thing is, you have to be an original person; you have to act as an original person.
The person you were before you are born, that is the one you have to carry and you are actually already doing it. Nobody taught you but you know how to eat, you know when you are hungry. That is the real Paradise. Nobody really taught you, but you know it. The Paradise can not be dirty or contaminated, beautiful or ugly, long or short and it is not because of anything you have done but because that is what it is.
