Contemplation - Meditation Chur

In order to see yourself you have to see others, in order to help others you have to see yourself. Where in the world can you find the 'I and Thou?' Not because they are not separated from one another but because 'I and Thou' originally doesn't exist. In your leather bag, which part would you call 'myself'? Tell me! Which part is 'myself'? This part is less, this part is more; what are you going to pick? When you see others, what you identify as being 'them' is not what they are. 'I and Thou' are nothing than words. It has never existed. We have 'I and Thou' to carry thought, not because 'I and Thou' exists.

When two people meet and talk together it appears to be 'I and other' but that is only the physical difference. 'You' are standing on that side and 'I' am standing on this side. Each of you views the other as 'other' and self as 'I' but do you know how many 'I's there are in the world? As many as there are people, right? Do you know how many 'You's there are? Exactly one less than the number of 'I's. (zen master Myo Vong)

Cultivate virtue in the manner of a Thief. This means that you should be as inconspicious in your actions as though you were secretly trying to steal something. To act secretively here means that you should not be concerned whether others see you doing something or not. Simply go ahead with your action and do it as a matter of course.
