Zen Meditation – The Battlefield of Wisdom and Truth – The Logos – Give up jealousy and meditate!

As the space between life and death dawns on me in Zen meditation, I want to collect my mind completely. And strive to prolong the workings of good consequences. Close the gate of birth and resist. This is the time when perseverance and pure thinking are essential.

Zen Meditation - Contemplation

Give up jealousy and meditate. With absent mind, not thinking of the approach of death, engaged in such senseless doings, returning empty-handed would now be utter delusion. What is needed is to recognize the truth in Zen meditation. So why not practice the truth right now? Out of the mouths of the saints come these words: "Will you not then deceive yourself?" May the saints and sages, in their great love, lead us on the right path.

As I wander in delusion, on an unswerving path of study, reflection and Zen meditation, may the sages of the sacred lineage advance me. Her mate, queen of space behind. O help me on the dangerous balancing act of Zen meditation. Accompany me to perfect salvation. So I am wandering because of violent aggression, on the shining path of light of mirror-like truth. The master advances me, his companion at my back.

As I wander because of excessive pride, on the shining path of light of the truth of equality, the master strides ahead of me and his companion at my back. As I roam with burning desire, on the shining path of light of discriminating wisdom, the master strides ahead of me and his companion at my back. If I wander because of nagging envy, on the shining path of light of the all-perfecting wisdom, the master strides ahead of me and his companion at my back.

As I wander on strong unconscious tendencies, on the brilliant path of light of innate wisdom, may the masters step before me and their companions at my back. As I wander amid violently confused projections, on the gleaming path of light of liberation from all fear, may the masters advance before me and their companions at my back.

Where are you going? If you knew everything about the currents while sailing the boat, and could distinguish the waves while operating the oars, why would it be necessary to go so far to admonish and instruct you? You could reach complete understanding in one fell swoop. This is how the wind blows and lightning flashes - if you hesitate, you are a thousand miles away. This Zen teaching is aimed only at the quick, not at the ignorant. That's why in Zen we say: "We cast the hook into the four oceans just to catch wild dragons." The mysterious trick beyond convention is simply to find those who know.”
