Verse - Children of Light

Jesus said: "If they say to you, 'Where do you come from?' then say to them, 'We come from the light, from where the light was born of itself. It created itself by itself and appeared in their image. If they say to you, 'Are you already?' then say, 'We are his children and we are the chosen (the whole) of the living Father.' If they ask you, 'What is the sign of your Father in you?' say to them, 'It is movement and rest.'"

Comment

There is a source of strength that never runs dry because it is fed by the All-Power. It is the divine stream of power in the depths of the soul, the seedbed of unexploited abilities and possibilities. Anyone who trusts in this source of strength and knows that they are nourished, supported and guided towards the light from within becomes the master of their life because ever more powerful forces of good emerge from them, transform all obstacles into benefits and cause them to walk ever more alertly and consciously in the light of the sun of God within them.

This turning of light from within, in which we recognize that we come from the light, that we are children of the light, is a sign of living discipleship of Christ, to which the Gospel of Thomas calls us. The above word expands and explains the words of the Sermon on the Mount: "I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light," and: "You are the light of the world," which call for daily reflection on light and for guarding the inner light. "Do not extinguish the light that shines within you!" says another word from the Lord - perhaps by looking outward and forgetting the eternal light of the inner world because of the fleeting lights of the world of the senses!

In the unmoved silence of the inner world, they surrender themselves to the peace and the light will of the Eternal, and when they speak or work, they allow themselves to be moved and guided by the Spirit, thus revealing through their behavior and actions that they are filled with light and moved by God and fulfilling the requirement of the Sermon on the Mount:

Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and praise your Father in heaven. Your true face is free from every defect and every imperfection of features. It is neither of this form nor of that quality, neither spatial nor temporal. For it is essentially and essentially the image of the Absolute - the face of all faces - and ultimately: the sight of God and the face of God.
