Mysticism & Gospel of Thomas – No. 107 – Reunification

Verse - Reunification

Jesus said, "The kingdom is like a shepherd who had a hundred sheep. One of the largest sheep went astray. He left the ninety-nine and searched for the one until he found it. After he had struggled so much, he said to the sheep, 'I love you more than the ninety-nine.'"

With this saying, and like the parable of the prodigal son, Jesus wants to make people aware of why the whole love of the Godhead belongs to the human being who, before all time, separated himself from the unity of the divine kingdom of light, emerged with creation into his own being and into duality, and since then, driven by the secret longing for the original unity and immediacy of God and imperceptibly drawn towards the light by divine love, has found himself on the way home, but only becomes aware of this in the rare moments of inner wakefulness.

In these moments of cosmic awakening, man feels that he, the seeker of God, is equally sought by God, and that the kingdom of God with all its fullness, power and perfection awaits him as the called heir.

Man, no matter how imperfect, inadequate, weak and rejected he may appear as an individual, is a king's son without knowing it. And only when he, the lost One, has found his way home to the kingdom of light of the Godhead and takes up his inheritance, is the joy complete. Yes, there is more joy over him than over those who remained in the original unity; for with him, perfection - symbolized by the number 100 - is restored on a higher level, and oneness with the One is fully realized. Christ points the way to this reunification once again in the next and last saying.
