Mass on Sundays and Holidays – As it was in the beginning, so now and always and forever

Mass on Sundays and Holy Days from my grandfather's prayer book (Men in prayer). The priest kneels on the steps of the altar and begins the frame verse. After the priest has intoned the frame verse, he first sprinkles the high altar three times, then himself, rising, sprinkles the altar servants with holy water. Then he walks through the church and also sprinkles the believers. Meanwhile, the choir sings one or more works from Psalm 50:

Have mercy on me, God, according to your great mercy. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; As it was in the beginning, so now and always and forever. Amen.

Let us pray:

Hear us, holy Lord, almighty Father, eternal God, and graciously send down your holy angel from heaven. He guards, preserves, protects, visits and shields everyone who is in this house together. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

During the holy time of sacrifice, the following verse is sung:

I saw water coming out of the temple on the right side, alleluia. And all to whom this water came were saved, and they shall say: Alleluia, alleluia. Praise the Lord for he is good; for his mercy endures forever. glory be. I saw a water...

The mysterious words of the prophet Ezekiel, which accompany the distribution of the holy water at the time of sacrifice as a framework verse, are clear to us in the light of Christ's resurrection. Yes, we know; Water is the outward sign and therefore also the symbol of baptism. As a symbol of this sacrament, the Lord himself, this true temple of God, let it flow out of his holy side wound.

The frame verse wants to point out to us that the water that has just been distributed is a symbol of baptism and a sign of grateful remembrance of the redeeming death of the Lord, from which the baptismal water receives all its strength.

The Premass

Clothed in the holy robes, the priest approaches the altar. He makes his honorific before him by bowing the knee or bowing low when the Holy of Holies is not on the altar, and ascends the steps of the altar. He places the chalice in the middle and opens the missal on the right, i.e. the epistle page. He then makes a bow before the cross, steps back in front of the lowest step of the altar and again makes his honorary title. When the priest squats or bows, everyone kneels. It starts that

Prayer

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. I will step up to God's altar: to God, who makes me happy from my youth. Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an unholy people; from wicked false people save me. God you are my strength. Why do you want to disown me?

Why do I have to go sad because the enemy is harassing me? Send me your light and your truth to lead me to your holy mountain and to your tent. There I may step up to the altar of God, to God who has made me happy from my youth.

Then I will praise you with the harp, God, my God! How can you still mourn, my soul, how to torment me with grief? Trust in God, I may praise him again; he remains my savior and my god. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; As it was in the beginning, so now and always and forever. Amen.

I will step up to God's altar: to God, who makes me happy from my youth. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who created heaven and earth. I confess to God Almighty, the Blessed Virgin Mary always pure, Saint Michael the Archangel, Saint John the Baptist, the holy Apostles Peter and Paul, all the saints, and you, brethren, that I have sinned many times in thought, word, and Works: through my fault, through my fault, through my exceedingly great fault.

Therefore I ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, always pure, Saint Michael the Archangel, Saint John the Baptist, the holy Apostles Peter and Paul, all the saints and you, brothers, to pray for me to God our Lord. Almighty God, have mercy on you; he will forgive you your sins and lead you to eternal life. Amen.

....

Almighty, everlasting God, you cause your servants to recognize the glory of the eternal Trinity in the profession of true faith, and to worship unity in the power of majesty; therefore we ask: Let us be unshakable in this faith and thus always strengthened against all hostility. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Reading

O immeasurable depth of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How incomprehensible are his judgments and how incomprehensible his ways! Who would have recognized the thoughts of the Lord? Or who would have been his advisor? Or who would have suggested to him that he should be reimbursed? Yes, from him and through him and in him is everything, to him be glory forever. Amen.

Interlude

Blessed are you, Lord, who gaze upon the abyss and sit enthroned on the cherubim. Blessed are you, Lord, in the firmament of heaven and to be praised forever!

Allelujabers

Alleluia, alleluia. Blessed are you, Lord, God of our fathers, and to be praised forever! alleluia.

Bowing in the middle of the altar, the priest then speaks softly:

Clean my heart and my lips, Almighty God. As you once cleansed the lips of the prophet Isaias with a burning stone, in your gracious mercy cleanse me too and let me proclaim your holy gospel worthily. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Gospel

At that time Jesus said to his disciples: All power has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Therefore go, teach all peoples, and baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey all that I have commanded you. Go, I am with you always, to the ends of the earth.

Praise be to you, Christ!
